Leading the Charge: California’s Renewable Energy Revolution and Lessons from PV Innovation

California continues to lead the world in clean energy innovation, and the lessons we learn here are shaping the global renewable landscape. Join Dr. David Mueller, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as he explores California’s ambitious renewable energy goals, the challenges and opportunities of transforming the grid, and how Pacific’s own photovoltaic (PV) system is driving research and discovery.

    Topics include:

    California as a Climate Leader
Challenges and Opportunities in the Transition
University of the Pacific PV Case Study
    Cloud Detection and Solar Forecasting

Dr. David Mueller holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Missouri. His research spans semiconductor devices, optical electronics, photovoltaics, and renewable energy, with a focus on using computational intelligence and data-driven optimization to enhance solar technologies.

Dr. Mueller welcomes motivated undergraduate and graduate students—especially those with programming or machine learning experience—who are interested in renewable energy research. Students interested in joining his research group are encouraged to email him directly.
