Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 4:00 PM until 5:00 PMPacific Daylight Time UTC -07:00

Stockton’s journey to becoming a statewide and national leader in Ethnic Studies began with student activism, community advocacy, and a shared vision for a more inclusive education. The movement powerfully shows how local voices can spark lasting change.

Join this Changemakers session to hear the stories of the students, educators, and community members whose passion, advocacy, and HEART work helped shape this movement. From student-led activism and grassroots after-school programs to groundbreaking educational opportunities, discover how generations of changemakers transformed education in Stockton.

In 2025, Stockton took another major step forward, allowing students to fulfill the state’s U.S. History requirement through upper-division integrated Ethnic Studies courses. Today, Stockton Unified offers 12 Ethnic Studies courses, continuing a legacy of student leadership and community-driven change.

Come hear the stories behind the movement, learn how grassroots efforts create lasting impact, and leave inspired to become a changemaker in your own community!
