Join us for our Engineering RISE Seminar Series, where we spotlight specialized research areas of our esteemed Faculty! Each lecture provides insight into how our faculty members are shaping the world through the lens of engineering. Explore the endless opportunities and career advancements awaiting you in engineering.

Guest: Dr. Varadraj Vernekar, Assistant Professor of Bioengineering

    Talk Highlights:

    • Annually, 30 million Americans seek medical treatment for traumatic injuries.
    • A key challenge is scar tissue formation or fibrosis.
    • Dr. Vernekar's research models the processes of tissue inflammation, fibrosis, and remodeling in traumatic injury biomechanics studies and utilizes our evolving understanding of regenerative biology to inform the design of novel regenerative therapeutics and biomaterials.
    • Dr. Vernekar's goal is to achieve functional tissue restoration in patients following soft and complex musculoskeletal tissue injury.
